Lucas Paqueta sends message to Jude Bellingham after West Ham United win v Olympiacos
West Ham star Lucas Paqueta has paid homage to Real Madrid sensation Jude Bellingham after netting the winner against Olympiacos in the Europa League.
It has been shared frequently that the West Ham squad were looking for revenge after the Greek side celebrated their win in the reverse fixture with wild scenes.
Paqueta celebrated with his arms held out, exactly as Bellingham does, and the Brazilian took to his Instagram story to recognise the Englishman by posting a photo alongside the caption “Jude Bellingham only today my friend”.
Bellingham has since reposted the story, adding a laughing and a handshake emoji.
It is unclear why Paqueta chose to celebrate in this way, given that the pair have never shared the pitch as teammates or opponents.
Perhaps this was his way of acknowledging the stunning start to Bellingham’s Real Madrid career.
Nonetheless, the Brazilian’s control and finish were impressive and proved the difference in a game that lacked cutting-edge quality. The Hammers are now in control of Group A after avenging defeat to their Greek opponents in the last matchday.
They top the group after three wins in four and have two games to seal their place in the knockout stages.
This was Paqueta’s third goal in Europe this season, and hopefully, for West Ham, he can transform that form into the Premier League where he has only scored once.
An in-form Paqueta would undoubtedly fire The Hammers up the Premier League table given his ability to prove the difference with his quality control and output from midfield
In other West Ham United news, the Hammers have been linked with a January move for Kelechi Iheanacho
