Analyst Explains Why Bengals Are On High Alert Now

Joe Burrow #9 and Ja'Marr Chase #1 of the Cincinnati Bengals walk off the field after defeating the New Orleans Saints 30-26 at Caesars Superdome on October 16, 2022 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The Cincinnati Bengals have won four games in a row after starting the season by losing three of their first four games, and the thinking has been that they’re getting their groove back.

Quarterback Joe Burrow, who had been dealing with a strained calf he sustained early in training camp, is looking like his old self again, while wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins have been stepping things up.

However, Higgins will be out this Sunday and Chase is questionable because of a bad back.

The Bengals will be playing the Houston Texans, a team that has won four of its last six games and features a red-hot rookie quarterback in C.J. Stroud.

This will be the first game of a challenging stretch for them, and thus Chris Broussard said on “First Things First” that they should be concerned because they don’t have any room for error.

After Sunday, Cincinnati will play the Baltimore Ravens on short rest this coming Thursday, then they will go up against the surprising Pittsburgh Steelers and the streaking Jacksonville Jaguars the following two weeks.

Right now, the biggest reason for concern as far as they’re concerned may be their injury status.

Chase was limited in practice this week, and Higgins has had a total of 179 receiving yards on 13 catches in the team’s last two games.

The Bengals are 5-3 and are currently in a three-team tie in the AFC North, but they sit in last place due to the league’s tiebreaker rules.
