Galatasaray confirm Zaniolo move to Aston Villa
Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk confirms Italy international Nicolò Zaniolo ‘wants to play in the Premier League’ and will fly out to join Aston Villa tomorrow.
Multiple sources including Sportitalia and Sky Sport Italia have the same figures, noting that Zaniolo will make the move on loan at a cost of €4m with an option to buy at the end of the season for a further €27m including easy to achieve add-ons.
Zaniolo was not involved in this evening’s match, which saw Galatasaray beat NK Olimpia Lubiana 1-0 in the Champions League preliminary round.
“Zaniolo wants to play in the Premier League and we respect that,” coach Okan Buruk told reporters after the game.
“It would seem to be in the best interests of the club as well to let him go. We already have Tete and will sign other reinforcements.”
The 24-year-old is set to fly out tomorrow morning and have his medical in Birmingham with Aston Villa.
He made the move from Roma to Galatasaray in February for €15m plus up to €10m in bonuses.
The Giallorossi also retained a 20 per cent cut of the sell-on fee, so if Aston Villa choose to make the move permanent, they could bring in over €6m from the transfer.
