Officials confirmed Wednesday that a New England Patriots fan who fell during a game and later died did not have “traumatic” injuries, implying that his death was not caused by a fight at the stadium.
Dale Mooney, 53, of New Hampshire, went unconscious in the fourth quarter of New England’s “Sunday Night Football” game against the Miami Dolphins in the top deck of Gillette Stadium in Foxborough and could not be
revived, according to officials.
Witnesses reported he was attacked by a Miami Dolphins fan and went unconscious, although the strike may not have been the cause of Mooney’s death.
“Preliminary autopsy results did not suggest traumatic injury, but did identify a medical issue,” the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office said in a statement Wednesday.
