Sources: Everton to find out imminently over Hannibal Mejbri deal after ‘seven-figure’ offer tabled

Everton could find out today if they have won the race to sign Man United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri on loan for the rest of the season, sources have told Football Insider.

The Merseyside clubs are locked in a 50:50 battle with Sevilla over the signature of the attacking midfielder, 20.

Mejbri could figure for United in their FA Cup third round clash against Wigan Athletic on Monday before he is then given the green light to complete a loan move.

The Tunisian is expected to join either Sevilla or Everton on loan this month after the two clubs submitted offers to take him for the second half of the campaign.

United are demanding what sources say is a “seven-figure” loan fee for the player as well as for his wages to be covered.

Mejbri has been a regular in United match-day squads this season but has struggled for game time and is eager to get further experience of first-team football.

Of his 313 senior minutes this term, only 131 of them have come in Premier League matches.

United recently triggered a clause to extend Mejbri’s contract by 12 months until the summer of 2025.

He was the subject of interest from a number of clubs over the summer and had the chance to join Besiktas on loan but wanted to stay and fight for his place under Erik ten Hag.

The rising star impressed for Birmingham City on loan last season, where he made 41 appearances in all competitions and supplied six assists as well as a single goal.
