Patrick Bamford, Joel Piroe, Georginio Rutter and even Mateo Joseph are considered ahead of the star right now. Blackburn, Preston and Hull were linked earlier in the window, and earlier today, Plymouth.
But reports also claim he could leave England and move to Scotland, joining either Celtic or Rangers – who are both keen. However, surely his best move is to join Celtic and Kyogo Furuhashi could be why.
Celtic are lacking in options up top. Kyogo is obviously first choice, the other options being South Korea man Oh Hyeon-gyu – who has scored 12 goals in 45 for Celtic. Not particularly encouraging for Celtic.
Johnny Kenny is next in line but he’s a youngster. Kyogo, is the main man but with the Asian Cup coming into play, Celtic desperately need a no.9, and Gelhardt needs a change. A move to Scotland could be it.
Another Championship loan is hardly going to wet his appetite. But a new challenge, fighting for titles in a new country might be what Gelhardt needs. He’d go straight into the side at Celtic, with Kyogo gone.
More so than Rangers, with the Gers boasting Cyriel Dessers, Sam Lammers, Kemar Roofe and others. Celtic need a striker, Gelhardt needs a new challenge and the Hoops are keen. A move that suits all.
