Crystal Palace could be without seven players for Everton after Michael Olise injury update

Crystal Palace are set to be without several players for their FA Cup tie with Everton on Thursday night.

The Blues will hope to put an end to their dip in form by coming away from Selhurst Park with a win and advancing to the fourth round. Sean Dyche’s side have lost their last four in all competitions, despite a phenomenal start to December, and will hope to rediscover their winning ways in the FA Cup.

Palace halted their run of eight games without a win against Brentford on Saturday, with forward Michael Olise scoring a brace in the 3-1 victory. However, the talismanic winger picked up a hamstring problem in the final moments of the game and Hogson has ruled him out for the game against Everton.

“As you probably saw in the game against Brentford, Michael Olise had to come off right at the end,” Hodgson said during his press conference. “He felt his hamstring with the last kick he made of the game. Unfortunately for us, he won’t take part in this game.

“We’ll have to nurse him through and hope he gets back as soon as possible. For how long is he out? I can’t answer that one I’m afraid.”

Hodgson is hopeful that Olise’s hamstring issue will not be as serious as the one that saw him miss the start of the season, as well as the U21 Euros in the summer. The 22-year-old will certainly be a huge absentee for the Eagles, having registered six goal contributions in nine games so far this term.

Palace will also be without fellow forward Jordan Ayew for the cup clash against Everton. The 31-year-old has remained a virtual ever-present for Palace but will be joining up with Ghana’s squad ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

In midfield, Cheick Douucoure, who won the club’s player of the season award in the last campaign, is expected to miss the remainder of the season with an Achilles injury, Young winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi had also begun to impress before suffering a hamstring problem.

Palace captain Joel Ward remains an absentee, with the right-back missing the club’s last three league games. Centre-back Rob Holding has also struggled for fitness since signing from Arsenal in the summer, being limited to a single cup appearance. Meanwhile, first-choice goalkeeper Sam Johnstone remains a doubt with a calf problem, which has allowed Dean Henderson to deputise in recent weeks.
