Trevoh Chalobah is firmly on the West Ham radar in the January transfer window, and we’ve apparently been chasing him since the summer.
Hammers boss David Moyes is on the hunt for a new centre-back, with Nayef Aguerd away at AFCON, Kurt Zouma continually struggling with injuries and Angelo Ogbonna now in the twilight years of his career.
Moyes could be set to raid Chelsea for Chalobah, and he’s reportedly got his sights set on another Blues star as well – Conor Gallagher.
Chalobah, 24, has been out of action with a complicated hamstring injury since August, but has just returned to full fitness (Evening Standard).
And now West Ham could try to prise him away from Stamford Bridge…
According to talkSPORT, Trevoh Chalobah is a top transfer target for the Hammers this winter.
I think the 24-year-old could be a very strong addition to Moyes’s ranks at the London Stadium. He’s apparently available for around £25 million (Daily Mail).
He’s quick along the ground, strong in the air and vitally for David Moyes, he has experience of playing Premier League football! In 25 Premier League appearances for Chelsea last season, the centre-back averaged 1.2 tackles, one interception and 2.2 clearances per game (Who Scored).
The Chelsea ace can play in defensive midfield as well as in central defence defence, so £25 million for him would be an absolute steal as far as I’m concerned.
However, the troublesome hamstring injury that he’s been dealing with is undoubtedly a big concern. We have been stung far too many times in the past when signing injury-prone players, just look at the likes of Andy Carroll, Jack Wilshere and Gianluca Scamacca to name a few.
And whether the West Ham owners will be prepared to take a punt on Chalobah in the January transfer window remains to be seen. I reckon that Moyes may well look for a more physically robust central defender instead of the Chelsea man.
