Leeds United transfer news as Aberdeen boss Barry Robson issues Duk update

Aberdeen boss Barry Robson has addressed the future of striker Duk amid links with Leeds United and Southampton this summer.

As quoted by the Scotsman on Wednesday (16 August), Robson admits that he’s got no intention of selling the Cape Verde international this summer.

The 23-year-old bagged 16 SPFL goals last season and his side wants to retain his services with their manager confirming that he’ll be staying put.

Robson said, “You can get one phonecall, ‘Oh somebody is linked with him’ and then it goes in the press and we all believe it, don’t we? Well, I don’t.

“I have seen it all before. Duk is Aberdeen’s player, he is a brilliant player, we love him here and he is going to be here.”

Sunday Mirror’s Darren Witcoop claimed on 16 August that the Whites were planing to launch a bid for him as well.

Keep trying

A move to England and potentially the Premier League is something that players in Scotland have often found hard to resist.

Duk knows that his career can only grow so much in that league and if he is to prove himself on the European stage, he’s got to move to England.

Leeds have been in the Premier League for three seasons and one season in the Championship but with new owners and a new manager make them an interesting project.

It remains to be seen if a bid goes in for him and if the Whites agree on personal terms whether he stands up to the Aberdeen hierarchy.

There’s every chance of the move going through as Leeds do have the money to spend and they’re themselves desperate on signing a new striker.

The first two games of the season have proven that Joe Gelhardt cannot be the long-term solution or the one to shoulder responsibilities week in and week out to get them back to the top flight.
