Bolton Wanderers forward could depart before Thursday’s deadline with Turkish club circling

Victor Adeboyejo could be set for a departure in the next few days with foreign interest in the Bolton Wanderers striker.

Bolton Wanderers could be set to fend off overseas interest for forward Victor Adeboyejo ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Victor Adeboyejo wanted by overseas clubs

According to a report by Football Insider’s Pete O’Rouke last week, Adeboyejo is wanted by clubs overseas after impressing during the 2023/24 season.

The former Barnsley forward joined the Trotters in January 2023 and has provided eight goals and two assists so far this season in 33 games in all competitions for Ian Evatt’s side.

Crucially, most of Adeboyejo’s goals for the club have come during the 2023/24 season, firing Bolton well within reach of the automatic promotion places.

The Nigerian-born forward is contracted to Wanderers until the summer of 2026, and would likely command a decent fee should he leave the Lancashire outfit during the January window.

The latest on Adeboyejo’s Bolton future

Now, O’Rourke has provided the latest update on his future at theToughsheet Community Stadium, outlining interest is coming from Turkey.

Speaking via his Twitter (X) account, he said: “Bolton striker Victor Adeboyejo is a target for Turkish club Goztepe before the close of the transfer window.

“Goztepe are preparing a bid for Adeboyejo as they look to lure the powerful forward to Turkey before the transfer window shuts.”

It is unclear if Bolton will require an addition to their forward line before they sanction an exit for the striker, but they have been looking at alternative strikers in recent weeks, to further bolster their attacking depth ahead of transfer deadline day.

Bolton Wanderers could have Adeboyejo replacement lined up

Wanderers could already have a replacement for Adeboyejo already lined up in the next few days.

According to journalist Alan Nixon (via his personal Patreon account), Evatt had been close to landing Blackburn Rovers’ Niall Ennis on loan until the end of the season.

However, Bolton have since been unable to reach an agreement with Blackburn for Ennis at this point, according to a Patreon report from Nixon.

This has been a blow for the Trotters, considering his talent as it would would have been a strong capture considering how well he did in League One last term with Plymouth Argyle.

Evatt has now confirmed that Bolton did make a bid for Bristol Rovers striker Aaron Collins and are now weighing up whether to make an improved offer, when speaking to The Bolton News.

Should they seal a move for Collins, they may be more willing to part ways with Adeboyejo before Thursday, but a move may not be easy to complete for one of League One’s best players.

It has so far been a quiet January transfer window for the Trotters, as they have made just two new additions in the form of Nathanael Ogbeta and Calvin Ramsay from Swansea City and Liverpool, respectively.

The fight for promotion is likely to be hotly contested, and results on the pitch may be dictated by what happens in the last few days of the transfer market being open.
