DENVER — The cause of offensive lineman Thomas Herrion’s death is unknown until toxicology testing are completed, which typically takes three to six weeks, according to a coroner.

Herrion had never tested positive for a banned substance since joining the NFL two years ago, according to individuals acquainted with his league’s drug policy.
Herrion tested negative for steroids and performance-enhancing substances, including ephedra products, three times in the last year. According to Mortensen’s sources, he also passed other league-administered street drug tests.
