Former Giants coach Ben McAdoo working out deal to join Patriots’ coaching staff, AP source says
Former New York Giants coach Ben McAdoo is negotiating a contract to become a senior offensive assistant for the New England Patriots, according to a source familiar with the matter.
The individual talked to the AP on the condition of anonymity Tuesday because the situation had not yet been completed.
McAdoo will be reunited with Alex Van Pelt, who was recently appointed as New England’s offensive coordinator, when he joins the Patriots’ coaching staff. McAdoo was the Green Bay Packers’ quarterbacks coach in 2012 and 2013, while Van Pelt was the running backs coach.
McAdoo was the Giants’ offensive coordinator under Tom Coughlin from 2014 to 2015 before being appointed to head coach in 2016. He finished 11-6 in his debut season, breaking a four-year postseason drought.

McAdoo, 46, served as the Carolina Panthers’ offensive coordinator under Matt Rhule in 2022.
McAdoo served as the Jacksonville Jaguars’ quarterbacks coach in 2020 and as a consultant for the Dallas Cowboys in 2021.
In New England, McAdoo will most likely be called upon to give another veteran assistance to Van Pelt. He could also help tutor a new quarterback if the Patriots release Mac Jones and draft a new one this spring.
