Confirmed: Birmingham City complete third signing of January transfer window
Birmingham City have confirmed the signing of attacker Alex Pritchard from Championship rivals Sunderland
Birmingham City have completed the signing of Alex Pritchard from Sunderland for an undisclosed fee.
Pritchard becomes Blues’ third signing of the January window after deals for Andre Dozzell and Paik Seung-ho. The 30-year-old has reunited with ex-Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray and penned a two-and-a-half year contract with Blues.
The 30-year-old brings a wealth of Championship experience to St Andrew’s having excelled at this level with Brentford, Norwich, Huddersfield and more recently Sunderland. He recorded five goals and 12 assists in 65 Championship games for Sunderland after helping the Black Cats to promotion from League One in 2022.
Pritchard was a key player in Mowbray’s Sunderland side that reached the play-offs last term and makes Blues the fifth permanent club of his career.
The game against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday could see Pritchard and Blues’ other two new signings make their full debuts. Dozzell only made a brief substitute appearance in Blues’ 2-1 win at Stoke City two weeks ago.
Pritchard enjoyed a brief loan spell at The Hawthorns in 2016 when West Brom were a Premier League club.
