Caitlin Clark is on the verge of breaking the NCAA women’s basketball scoring record, with only eight points remaining.

Clark, who is currently averaging 32.1 points per game, will get the opportunity to break the record in front of her home fans when the Hawkeyes host Michigan on Thursday night.
Clark came close to setting a new record in Iowa’s final game against Nebraska on Sunday. She had 31 points after three quarters but went scoreless in the fourth quarter, missing all six of her shots. The Hawkeyes, meanwhile, gave up a 14-point fourth-quarter lead, as the Cornhuskers rallied to win 82-79.
The record, presently held by former Washington standout Kelsey Plum, is almost certainly going to fall Thursday. Clark’s lowest point total this season is 21, and she has never scored less than eight points in a game during her college career.

Clark has averaged nearly 35 points in four previous games versus Michigan.

By the end of the regular season, the Hawkeyes will have appeared seven separate times on Peacock. The team’s next national television appearance will be against Illinois on February 25 on FS1.

The Wolverines’ next national television appearance will be on the Big Ten Network on February 18, when they host Michigan State.

Iowa vs. Michigan will begin approximately 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, February 15. The game will take place at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa.
It is one of two Big Ten games scheduled for Thursday, following Illinois vs. Penn State.
