Former Collingwood and Richmond star Craig Stewart, father of current Bombers defender James, has passed away at 66. Stewart made a significant impact in the AFL, impressing coach Tom Hafey.

Stewart, nicknamed ‘Snaggles’, managed 21 games in his debut season and played 115 games for Collingwood, scoring 122 goals. He collected six goals twice and was traded to Richmond.

Craig Stewart retired with 150 games, best known as a key member of Hafey’s Heroes from the late 1970s and early 1980s. Collingwood Football Club expressed gratitude for Stewart’s contribution and expressed thoughts for his family and friends.

Craig, a key forward, played outstanding games, defended effectively, and filled holes. Standing 193cm and weighing under 100kg, he was agile but excelled in marking and kicking.

The Tigers and Bombers have expressed condolences for the loss of James, a talented footballer known for his strong hands, good judgement, and superb kicking skills. They also pledged to support James through his father’s loss.
