Everton sale: Farhad Moshiri confirms ‘done deal’ is ‘near’ amid allegations of club being ‘available for sale’
Farhad Moshiri has reiterated that Everton are “not for sale,” but he has revealed that a deal is “close” as he seeks to attract “top investors.”
Everton’s manager Frank Lampard was fired earlier this week, and the club is currently joint-bottom of the Premier League table.
There has been significant dissent at the club, and directors were urged not to attend the latest game versus Southampton for security reasons.
On Tuesday, it was claimed that the club was ‘available for sale,’ with Moshiri setting a price of £500 million.
Moshiri, who has promised to go to “any lengths to win over the supporters,” claims he is still dedicated to the Merseyside team but is also looking to raise additional funds for the new stadium being constructed at Bramley-Moore Dock.
Moshiri stated in a video interview with the Everton Fan Advisory Board that was uploaded on the team’s website, “The club is not for sale, but I’ve been talking to top investors of real quality to bridge a gap on the stadium.”
“I am capable of doing it on my own. I want to do this in order to attract elite sports investors to Everton. We are almost done with this deal.
“It’s just introducing more knowledge in terms of global sponsorship and commercial development—it’s not selling the club at all.
“This pool of knowledge is held by many specialized sport investors, and it is to ensure that Everton has access to it.”
The Goodison scenario has been harshly criticized by former Liverpool defender and childhood Everton Jamie Carragher, who says the team is the “worst-run club in the country” and that Moshiri “doesn’t know what he’s doing but he’s got a lot of money.”
Carragher feels that the Everton hierarchy is to blame, but Moshiri supports his board and has urged the supporters to have hope.
“In our history, this is the most crucial moment. It’s practically an existential moment,” he remarked.
“I believe this board.” I have appointed and dismissed directors in the past. I’m not afraid to adapt. When necessary, we make adjustments.
We’re going to be brutal. We must remain composed and move beyond where we are at the moment on the field.
“I am aware of the suffering. I’ve heard the supporters’ opinions. They’re not wrong. We’re going to deal with them. Nothing is missing from me. I’ve got a list containing every point.
“I’m dedicated to this team, not just to this arena, but to becoming a member of the top. However, I need your assistance.
The most significant component of the Everton institution is its supporters. This is something that only we can handle jointly, so we must work through it together.
“Everton has relied on the 12th man and Goodison. I will stop at nothing to win over the supporters because I know that without their unwavering support, we are considerably weaker. I work on it all day long.
