Newcastle on the verge of double signing – Fantastic news on Wednesday morning.
Some promising transfer news has emerged this morning, as it looks like Newcastle United are all set to sign Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo and Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly on free transfers.
According to Craig Hope of The Mail, we’ve made substantial progress on a deal for Adarabioyo this week, and he’s likely to complete his move (from London) in the coming days, barring any last-minute stumbling blocks.
Fabrizio Romano also adds that negotiations to sign Adarabioyo and Kelly are ‘nearly there’, implying that both transactions have proceeded. Martin Hardy of The Times has also reported on Kelly in the last 24 hours, suggesting that a contract for the 25-year-old is expected ‘this week’.
The pair are expected to arrive on free transfers after declining the opportunity to extend their contracts with their present clubs.
It would represent a superb start to the window, bringing in two low-cost defenders with potential to improve and fill in for the absent Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman; two players set to miss a chunk of the 2024/25 campaign after ACL surgery.
Signing the pair on free transfers will also release funds to strengthen elsewhere, with the bulk of our summer budget likely to be spent on a right-winger, goalkeeper and striker.
