Former Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has agreed to terms with Belgian club Anderlecht on a one-year contract.

After leaving Nice by mutual consent last week, the 36-year-old became a free agent, allowing him to join a new club outside of the transfer window.

“Anderlecht is just a massive club,” the Danish goalie stated.

“Former teammates from various locations have always spoken highly and warmly of this place.” It was something I was very interested in becoming a part of.”

Schmeichel played 46 games in all competitions for Nice last season after signing on a free transfer from Leicester.

The 93-cap goalkeeper made 479 appearances for Leicester City over 11 years, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup.Community Shield
