What they’re saying about Patriots’ new offensive coordinator

Alex Van Pelt, who went unnoticed during New England’s interviews, became the Patriots’ offensive coordinator. The 53-year-old has worked in the NFL since 2006, including five seasons as a coordinator.

Van Pelt will aid the Patriots in a variety of ways as they attempt to get back on track and recover from a disappointing 2023 season in which New England just won four games.

Here’s what NFL insiders are saying about Van Pelt’s hire.”A long-time Bills backup quarterback, Van Pelt also has plenty of experience instructing signal callers, which fills a big need in New England; if Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye is drafted third overall, the rookie’s development will be critical to the franchise’s long-term success. Van Pelt has coached quarterbacks in Buffalo, Tampa Bay, Green Bay, Cincinnati, and Cleveland.”Quick intel on Alex Van Pelt, who was just hired as the Patriots OC: West coast system but has versatility due to his background, great person who can establish a positive offensive culture.”

“Quarterback man. He played the position and coached it for a long time. Experience with Aaron Rodgers and Deshaun Watson. Much more experienced than the majority of interviewed candidates. Should help alleviate some of Mayo’s offensive workload. Given his QB background, it appears that OL coach is now the most crucial positional job. “AOL Scott Peters in Cleveland would make sense.”

“The Patriots have a new offensive coordinator.” Along with the typical responsibilities of the position, Alex Van Pelt receives one additional title. A miracle worker. That’s exactly what the Patriots offense requires.” Someone with the ability to summon heavenly intervention.

“Source who worked with Van Pelt in Cleveland lauded his ability to coach QBs and said he’s a ‘phenomenal culture guy.'”

“Van Pelt was probably able to separate himself because of his previous experience. Van Pelt, a quarterback himself, played college football at Pittsburgh before joining the NFL, where he primarily played for the Buffalo Bills from 1994 to 2003.
