SFMTA Announces Transit Adjustments and Street Closures for Super Bowl, Warriors Games in San Francisco

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has issued traffic and transit recommendations ahead of a number of important events in the city, including Warriors games and the 49ers’ Super Bowl matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.
According to the SFMTA, additional Muni services will be offered, and streets will be closed to accommodate these events from Thursday, February 8, to Wednesday, February 14.
The Golden State Warriors will face the Phoenix Suns at the Chase Center on Saturday, February.
10, and the LA Clippers on Wednesday, Feb. 14, where street closures two hours before and one hour after the games are expected to cause some traffic difficulties.
Patrons can take a ride from the supplementary 78X Arena Express service, which begins two and a half hours before the game and continues until the event area is cleared post-game, providing access despite road closure.
On the football front, the city prepares for the Super Bowl on Sunday, February.
11, when the San Francisco 49ers take on the Kansas City Chiefs.
While the gridiron action ends around 6:30 p.m., city streets may become extremely congested as Muni buses are rerouted to avoid the Mission District to accommodate the expected human tide.
Muni lines will be rerouted along Mission Street, 24th Street, and 16th Street until the celebrations subside and the streets clear.

As basketball and football fans approach, parking meters outside the Chase Center will charge a special event rate of $10 per hour to deter people from circling in quest of elusive parking during events.
To maintain city arteries as open as possible, numerous streets, including parts of 16th Street and Warriors Way, will prohibit parking during these times to make room for Muni services and taxi stands.
Simultaneously, the ongoing L Taraval Improvement Project works to improve transit dependability and safety, with the SFMTA approving nearly 68% of track installation by February 23. Several bus stations will also be temporarily relocated during this renovation, making it difficult for locals to manage the ever-changing transit landscape. Even as night work on overhead lines begins from 19th to 35th avenues, an interactive bus reroutes map aims to guide commuters through this urban topography in transition.
