After Alabama win, Florida loss, Auburn moves down one spot in AP top 25
Auburn is placed No. 13 in the latest Associated Press top 25 poll, down one spot following a 1-1 week that included a home win over Alabama and a road defeat to Florida.
Five voters put Auburn as high as No. 10, but it was left unranked on one ballot.
Auburn (19-5, 8-3) is still in the midst of probably the most tough stretch of its SEC schedule, facing two ranked teams this week at Neville Arena: No. 11 South Carolina and No. 22 Kentucky.
South Carolina has risen swiftly in the polls, winning seven straight games, including victories against Tennessee and Kentucky.
ESPN’s College Gameday will air live from Neville Arena on Saturday morning, prior to the Kentucky game. The concert will return to Auburn for the third year in a row.
South Carolina is currently a Quad 2 matchup, with a NET rating below the top 30, while Kentucky is a Quad 1 opponent despite losing three of its last four games.
Auburn is one game back of first place in the SEC with seven games left to play.
This is Auburn’s eighth consecutive week of being ranked this season. Auburn has gotten at least one vote in every poll this season, with the exception of the one released on December 4, the day following Auburn’s loss to Appalachian State.
Appalachian State is Auburn’s only loss outside of the top quadrant. Auburn is 2-4 in Quad 1 games and 17-1 in Quads 2 through 4.
