Liverpool is interested in signing Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon.
The 23-year-old England international has had an excellent first season at St James Park and is set to join Gareth Southgate’s selection for the European Championships this summer. And his persistent performance on the wing for Eddie Howe’s side has piqued the interest of Liverpool’s scouting section as they compile a list of prospective targets for the post-Jurgen Klopp era.
Gordon is at the top, but the Geordies will be in no desire to sell their star player, who only joined them in a £45 million transfer from Everton last August. However, the loaded Saudi-owned club is anticipated to offload at least one, if not two, key players during the offseason in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
Swedish striker Alexander Isak has been linked with a big-money move to Arsenal, as has Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. However, Gordon being monitored by Liverpool is a new development, and it will be unwanted for Newcastle manager Howe.
Gordon has scored ten league goals and created ten more since his arrival, and he has quickly become a fan favourite among the Toon Army. He was recently named the team’s Player of the Season.
